Motorists are advised that Shumard Oak Boulevard will
temporarily close on Wednesday, April 26 for roadway
construction.
Blueprint 2000 will temporarily close Shumard Oak Boulevard on Wednesday, April 26 for roadway construction. Shumard Oak Boulevard will re-open on Thursday, April 27. During the intersection closure, no pass-through traffic will be allowed onto Capital Circle via Shumard Oak Boulevard. Traffic from Shumard Oak Boulevard will be detoured to Capital Circle via Esplanade Way and Merchants Row Boulevard. The closure is necessary to place pavement from Tram Road to Merchants Row on the new roadway being constructed on the east side of Capital Circle. Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway from the construction zone.
During the next two weeks, crews will continue earthwork and installation of storm drainage pipes from Merchants Row to Barcelona Lane on the east side of the roadway. This work will be conducted away from the roadway and is not expected to impact traffic. However, motorists should be alert for construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway from the construction zone.
Construction of the $36 million project began in May 2005 and is scheduled for completion in early 2008. However, weather or other unforeseen circumstances may affect construction schedules. Find details on this project and other Blueprint 2000 projects at www.blueprint2000.org.
